WHAT CAUSES CAR PAINT TO FADE?

What causes paint fade? The number one thing that causes paint fade is UV damage.

Outside of that, things that would add to the speed of the damage to your paint would be no protection on your paint or washing your vehicle either in a car wash or yourself with a soap that is not PH balance.

CAR WASHES CAN CAUSE PAINT DAMAGE

When you wash your vehicle, it’s very important to use a PH balanced soap.

What I mean by that is a soap that is low in acid so it won’t strip the surface of all the waxes or protections that are on the vehicle.

There are two times that damage can occur in your paint when you’re washing your vehicle.

Number one is when you’re agitating the dirt. What I mean by that is when you dip whatever using to agitate or apply the soap or whatever, the best thing to use is a wool wash mitt. So once you have the soap on, you’re agitating the dirt. You rinse the vehicle down. Number one, that’s your first opportunity to put scratch in the vehicle.

Second time that you have opportunity to scratch your vehicle is when you dry it.

That’s why I do recommend that you use a blower. It’s the best way. It moves the water off your vehicle without causing any damage and actually your… There’s two factors that’ll scratch your paint. When you’re washing, when you’re dry. If you can eliminate both of them, you’re ahead of the game.

EXCESSIVE SUN EXPOSURE

If your vehicle is not garage, it is susceptible to UV damage so much more than someone’s vehicle that is garage. If you drive your vehicle to work and you park out in the sun, your vehicle is exposed to UV damage if you have no protection on your vehicle.

What I mean by that is if you don’t have a high in paint sealant or a ceramic coating on your vehicle, you are susceptible to UV damage.

Once your vehicle has had so much damage from the sun, you’ll notice that the clear coat, which is the clear shiny stuff on top of your paint, will start to break down. It may look like it’s cloudy. You may be able to move your hand. You’ll see paint come off on your hand. There’s different indicators that your clear code has broken down. If your clear coat breaks down too far, you have to go to a body shop to restore it.

PAINT CORRECTION

If it hasn’t gone that far, we have a solution – car paint correction. We can polish, compound, restore that dead paint, remove that layer of dead paint oxidation by clay barring or thoroughly exfoliating or decontamination washing. All those add together to remove the dead surface of whatever is on top of your paint.

Once that’s done, this is what I recommend. You want long-term protection. Let’s face it. Vehicles are not an investment. They are depreciating assets. Whenever you want or need to get rid of your vehicle, there’s two factors to consider.

You want to look as best as possible, and you want it to look the closest to whenever you bought it to be there.

A ceramic car coating – a nano polymer coating – is an excellent option to both protect the existing paint and to make that paint look absolutely amazing.

We offer Gtechniq coatings. Gtechniq has been around for over 10 years and originated in the United Kingdom. You can look them up online to see how great of a reputation they have.

U.S. Auto Spa is one of the select few auto detailers in the United States of America that are Gtechniq accredited. What I mean by that is we can offer you their ceramic glass coatings with great warranties. We have coatings that can last anywhere from 36 months to 9 years.

Ceramic coatings allow you not to wax your car for two to three to five to nine years, depending on the coating. The same shine without all of the work.

Ceramic coating, whether it’s the shortest term or the longest term, all of them provide UV protection. Whether your vehicle is just sitting in Georgia in the hot summer sun or you’re going to go to the beach or you’re going to drive your vehicle to the airport and take a business trip, there’s so many factors that go in play here.

Your vehicle needs to be protected from not only just UV damage, but also environmental and industrial fallout, environmental, birds, tree sap, acid train, hard water spots, salt water, industrial fallout, chemical over sprays, people sealing roofs, etc.

So normal washing and maintenance is a way to protect your vehicle of contaminants. You could use a wax or paint sealant. You’re going to get one month to three months protection at the most, but on top of everything, you’re going to have a diminishing amount of protection as those treatments wear off.

Comparatively with a ceramic coating, your paint protection stays at the same level on day 589 as it had on day 1. Level of protection remains the same from start to finish pretty much for the time that it is warrantied to.
